Creating Change Out of Chaos

“All great changes are preceded by chaos.” ~ Deepak Chopra

I came across this quote today and felt the power of it instantly.  Do you?

Think back across the past several years of your life and look at the one or two times that you have REALLY made a big change … a change that turned out to be for the better in your life.  Remember how it felt when you allowed that change in … was it merely a life adjustment, or did you have a meaningful transformation? The Wound is the Place Where Light Enters You

“The wound is the place where the light enters you.” ~Rumi

wound is the place

I have never seen this quote before this morning, and it has frozen me at my kitchen counter, holding still my warm cup of coffee, suddenly transformed internally – feeling like the spirit of God has washed over me in waves of love as I reread the quote over and over again.

The wound. It started with the wound. Where the pain first came in. The lesson, the light, the love, entered me from the wound.

I know this experience was the intention of the Divine as I crept along the cold hardwoods this morning, pattering to my computer on the breakfast island to check what was in store for me today.

I know God was waiting with great love as I put my oatmeal down, logged in and started to search … opening this gift with an eager heart that was looking for a blessing.

I also know this is not meant just for me. Read more

Do Not Let the Behavior of Others Do This To You

“Do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace.” Dalai Lama

When I read this quote by the Dalai Lama, I immediately saw two independent pieces:

1) ‘the behavior of others’

2) ‘your inner peace’

They are separated in the sentence because they exist in two different places in space, unless you choose to let the two swirl together and take on the energy of the other. And so the Dalai Lama offers you the most empowering reminder between these two:

1) The behavior of others is not your burden.

2) You have the power to choose if something destroys your inner peace.

POWERFUL. I am talking about YOU – YOU ARE POWERFUL.

You have the authority over your own peace. You were born to nurture and care for the strong, peaceful spirit inside of you – as it was also born to nurture and care for you. While we can feel wounded when we are betrayed and otherwise not treated as our authentic selves, it is up to us what happens to our peace next. Read more

I Want to Know You … And I Want to Be Known

I am here because I want to be with you and get to know you.

And I want to be known.

Known for who I am on the inside instead of what you see on the outside.

Known in a sense that you ask about more than where I work and where I went to school. Known in a sense that you understand where my passion sleeps and why my dreams are so.

Known in a sense that when you walk away from here you can say “She is that kind of person” and use beautifully true words to describe who I really am. Because you listened. And I listened to you.

Let’s not do that thing that I am so tired of doing. Let’s not surround ourselves with the vapor of meaningless conversation that will eventually settle to the floor and disappear in a shade of gray dust long after we are gone.

You look lovely tonight, but please don’t stand here in your shiny shoes and tell me where they are from and spark about what designer is wrapped around you because that is not why I am here. Let’s not dwell on the specifics of things or the pulp of last night’s gossip … because that will only leave me here with a feeling of emptiness and stagnancy, and my spirit is aching for something to rise to meet it.
